St Wilfrid's Hospice Moonlight Walk

We're looking forward to another magical night and we hope hundreds of night owls will join us for our fifth sponsored Moonlight Walk to raise much needed funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice.

Our Moonlight Walk started in 2009, and over the past four years thousands of wonderful walkers have walked 10 miles, raising around £325,000 for St Wilfrid's Hospice.

Starting and finishing at Westgate Leisure at midnight, the 10 mile sponsored walk will take in cobbled streets, the Roman Walls and Bishop’s Palace Gardens which is not normally open to members of the public after dark.

This year it will cost in excess of £5.8 million to provide our services free of charge. The government contribution amounts to only 14% of our running costs, leaving us a huge sum of money to fundraise.

By taking part in this event and raising as much money as possible, either by sponsorship or a donation, you will help to ensure the Hospice is able to provide free care to local people with life limiting illness.

Friday 21st June 2013, starting at midnight.

Age 12 and upwards. All levels of fitness welcome.

Entry costs just £17.50 

Please note this fee only covers our costs and includes a Moonlight Walk t-shirt, goody bag, refreshments along the way, a light breakfast and a welcome foot pamper upon your return.

Walkers are requested to raise a minimum of £50 further sponsorship or make an equivalent donation to support the work of the Hospice.

By taking part in this event and raising as much money as possible, either by sponsorship, a donation or becoming a regular giver, you will help to ensure the Hospice is able to maintain and develop our services for the future.

• A gift of £50 could help pay for one hours care by a Hospice @ Home nurse
• A gift of £115 could help pay for the cost of one patient to visit the Day Hospice for one day
• A gift of £250 would enable us to provide one hour's care for the 14 patients on our ward
